Our premium raw honey and other hive based products are made and packaged with love by a group of enterprising tribal women in our adopted village in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. Empowering women with exciting opportunities to learn new skills and earn an independent income is one of the cornerstones of our work in rural Himalayan communities. Every purchase helps us further skill and increase employment opportunities in rural Himachal Pradesh, especially among women, who are traditionally overworked and unpaid for their non-stop labour.

Reviving local biodiversity to increase native bee populations
Through interactions with our adopted village community, we have been able to encourage a few local farmers to diversify their agricultural practices to include pollinator friendly flowers, herbs, and vegetables in an effort to increase local biodiversity. Proceeds from your purchase goes towards educating women in the community in permaculture practices, and providing native seeds and saplings to community members who are keen to join our collective. These herbs and flowers are then added to the products we are developing for you in our village workshop- creating a sustainable circular loop for ecologically sustainable production practices.

The lush mountain landscapes of the western Himalaya are some of the most fragile ecosystems in the world, and are home to rare and highly medicinal plants and flowers used in traditional healing systems. Beekeeping in these contexts comes with extreme risks both from increasingly uncertain climatic conditions, as well as destruction by wild animals our beekeepers have lost entire colonies to unseasonal rains or bear attacks. Tenacious Bee works with beekeepers who join our collective to mitigate some of these risks, and ethically harvest small batches of rare unifloral and multifloral honey like Chichiri and Lahaul Forest from some of the most pristine parts of these mountains.
